About Joe, the Carpenter: Joe, the Carpenter began his career in the construction industry, as a teen and young adult apprenticing under his dad, who was also a master carpenter and contractor. In 1979, after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural and Resource Technology, Joe started a business remodeling, repairing and restoring residential and commercial buildings. From 1991 to 1999, Joe managed several properties for a religious order of nuns. In that position, Joe collaborated with architects, engineers, building officials, contractors and ministerial administrators, on major repair and capital improvement projects. “I love collaborating with homeowners, architects, engineers, realtors, property managers and administrators, tradespersons and other project stakeholders, through the planning, designing and implementation stages, considering technicalities, aesthetics and logistics to create a successful outcome.” Joe has coordinated the work of apprentice to master trade workers, including site workers, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, pipe fitters, plasterers and painters. And working with my hands grounds me, brings me peace of mind and gives me a sense of accomplishment. I love working with wood as a framing and finish carpenter. And as is often called for on a small project, I install, finish and repair drywall and paint.” If needed, one of Joe’s seven sons is a master plumber and another is a master electrician, both of whom are contractors in the greater Colorado Springs area.
