About Design by Nature Studio: Creating landscapes is more than an opportunity to fabricate environmentally-responsible, beautiful spaces. It's a way to build new places for people to enjoy and share. Like the lotus flower that blooms from the debris, Design By Nature Studio grows beautiful spaces. Our goal is to create not only beautiful, but also healthy outdoor environments using techniques and methods that are rooted in natural standards and processes. The Principal, Merrill Kruger, has over 16 years of landscape experience and a Professional Certificate in Landscape Architecture from UCLA, Merrill has the knowledge to transform thoughts into sketches, and drawings into beautiful outdoor places. Her portfolio includes award-winning high end residential and celebrated commercial landscape projects. A California Native who travels at every opportunity, her concepts are inspired by the successes and comforts of historic gardens. Her custom designs improve on the traditional by modifying the style and/or materials so they are more appropriate for contemporary situations. Her experience in design-build companies and as a project manager have given her the technical understanding to execute lighting and hardscape elements from pools to pergolas. She is well versed in all garden styles; however she specializes in native, low maintenance, and water conserving plantings. When the team at Design By Nature Studio hears that the spaces we developed are celebrated by their visitors, we know our job is done....
