About Suttell, Dr. Kirk: Dr. Suttell has been practicing in St. Petersburg, Florida for 32 years. His family moved here from Niagara Falls, N.Y. in 1958. He grew up in Tampa Bay and graduated from St. Petersburg High School. Dr. Suttell received his undergraduate degree from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. He began his dental career after graduating from Emory University School of Dentistry. While in dental school, Dr. Suttell worked in two hospitals in the Atlanta area as a medical technology assistant and phlebotomist. After graduation from dental school in 1975, Dr. Suttell served on active duty in the U.S. Army Dental Corps, 130th Station Hospital, in Heidelberg, West Germany. After his two years of active service, Dr. Suttell received the Army Commendation Medal. After two years active duty in Germany, Dr. Suttell returned to Emory University where he was accepted into a Fixed Prosthodontics Residency program, which he completed in 1979. The Fixed Prosthodontics Residency program is for advanced oral rehabilitation in the area of crown and bridge dentistry. Also included in his specialty training was complete and partial dentures, cosmetic dentistry, TMJ, and occlusion. Cleft lip and palate also falls into the specialty of Prosthodontics, along with rehabilitation of cancer patients. Following completion of his advanced studies, Dr. Suttell returned to Florida. He opened his private practice in 1981 and has dedicated his practice to serving his patients with the highest level of care with special attention to their individual needs over a very broad area. Dr. Suttell recognizes each individuals right to receive the best care possible in a low-stress environment. Dr. Suttell is an active member in many professional organizations and regularly attends continuing education classes to keep up with the latest treatment and technologies. He also served as the team prosthodontist for the All Children’s Hospital Cleft Lip and Palate Team for 8 years. He was a member of the first hospital-based dental implant team at Ed White Hospital. He has been a member of various dental implant study clubs and he managed and supervised the literature review for one of these clubs. In addition to over 1200 hours of continuing education, Dr. Suttell also completed the Facial Pain post doctoral mini residency program established by Dr. Parker Mahan at the University of Florida.
